Mountain Valley Developmental Services, Inc.
Unleashing the Potential of Extraordinary Individuals
Since 1973, the mission of the Mountain Valley Developmental Services, Inc. has been to encourage and support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, enhancing their ability to live, learn, and work in an independent and inclusive manner, and to educate the community about their contributions and capabilities. Community support, activities, and involvement are key program elements to our mission.
MVDS provides core need and unduplicated human service programs in Garfield, Pitkin, Eagle, and Lake Counties by caring for and working with the developmentally disabled and delayed members of these communities. MVDS programs include:
- Residential Services: offers individuals 18 years and older a variety of living environments and training in areas that promote independence and self-sufficiency throughout their lives. Options range from supported living in apartments or with family to full personal care in group homes with 24/7 staffing.
- Enrichment Services: offers participation and social interaction with community, staff and peers in a safe and welcoming setting. Activities include recreational sports, group art, and cultural outings.
- Employment Services: develops jobs skills — finding and maintaining meaningful work with a valuable wage in a variety of settings throughout our four-County service communities. ES not only offers MVDS adult participants the chance to maintain productive and consistent employment but also offers the employers the opportunity to become important MVDS partners.
- Early Intervention: serves children ages birth to 3 years who have demonstrated developmental delays or diagnosed disabilities. EI works intimately with the families in their natural home environments to ensure that children are advancing as much as possible during the critical time between birth and age three.
